Ann Hoare
“Bach gave us God's word. Mozart gave us God's laughter. Beethoven gave us God's fire. God gave us Music that we might pray without words.”

The Chancel Choir seeks to continue building a high-quality music ministry that allows us to sing what we believe in. Honoring the classics as well as developing and fostering more contemporary elements of sacred music, we seek to encourage active involvement. Our purpose is to inspire and encourage praising God with music. The Chancel Choir is open to all. No auditions are required.
Rehearsals: Thursdays 7:30 pm - 8:45 pm in the sanctuary
Schedule: The choir sings at the 10:00 am worship service on the first and third Sundays of the month

The Sounds A’Pealing Handbell Choir adds a beautiful dimension to our worship services. Our five-octave set of Malmark handbells, as well as our handchimes, provide rich and uplifting music as we praise God in worship.
The handbell choir is open to youth, college students, or adults who can read treble or bass music. This choir generally rings hymn tunes, contemporary worship music, and classical pieces. A wonderful group of ten musicians, the handbell choir rings in service once a month, and special services.
Rehearsals: Thursdays 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the sanctuary
Schedule: The choir rings at the 10:00 am worship service on the third Sunday of the month
Director: Marquise Usher

One of the central tenets of our church’s vision is to be a place where young musicians can share their gifts in worship services. It is an opportunity for high school-age youth to share their musical talents with the larger community.
We work in partnership with the Marin Music Chest, local high schools, and music schools. These young musicians play a variety of instruments - piano, violin, cello, flute, harp, and trumpet.
If you or someone you know is a young musician who would like to play in one of our worship services, please contact Pastor Cynthia.

First Presbyterian Church has a long history of a ministry of music. In addition to our voice choir and handbell choir, we invite professional musicians from the community to play their instruments in our worship services as well as offer concerts.
Two Sundays of month we feature guest musicians who play instruments such as the organ, African kora, cello, flute, trumpet and more. Hearing beautiful live music in the sanctuary, chapel, and on our outdoor patio fills us with hope and joy every Sunday morning.
